How long a power station runs a CPAP

The formula is simple: station watt-hours ÷ CPAP watts = hours. Use the power figure your CPAP maker publishes, not a generic number, and remember that the humidifier and heated tube raise the draw.
Power draw varies by machine and by humidifier and heated-tube settings, so check your device's power specs with its maker or your clinician before relying on a power station overnight.

What the makers publish
| Device | Published power figures |
|---|---|
| ResMed AirSense 11 | 65 W power supply (AC input 100–240 V; DC output 24 V, 2.71 A); typical consumption 56.1 W, peak 73.2 W |
| ResMed Air11 DC/DC converter | Up to 90 W with the humidifier and heated tube on; ResMed says turning them off reduces consumption |
| Philips DreamStation 2 | 80 W power supply required to support humidification; no typical running draw published |
Worked example: AirSense 11 for one night
Using ResMed's typical figure (arithmetic, not a measurement):
- 56.1 W × 8 hours ≈ 450 Wh per 8-hour night.
- At the peak figure: 73.2 W × 8 hours ≈ 586 Wh.
Against the pinned ~1 kWh stations (full specs):
| Station | Listed capacity | Nights at 450 Wh (listed capacity only) |
|---|---|---|
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus | 1024 Wh | about 2.3 |
| Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 | 1070 Wh | about 2.4 |
| Anker SOLIX C1000 | 1056 Wh | about 2.3 |
These are upper bounds: conversion losses and the station's own consumption mean you get less than the listed capacity. Our sizing guide shows how to plan with a margin.
DC converter or AC inverter
ResMed recommends a DC-to-DC converter over an inverter, and a pure sine wave inverter if you do use AC. Running from DC skips the station's inverter, which is why the converter route usually gets more hours from the same battery. Philips sells a DC power cord and battery adapter cable for running DreamStation 2 from a 12 VDC battery.
Cold rooms and storage
If the station sits in a cold room overnight, see cold-weather storage. For long outages, the generator vs power station guide covers recharging options.
